Select Group company profile

Select Group was founded in Dubai in September 2002 by Rahail Aslam, who had already built and sold an IT hardware distribution business in the UK, and who bought into Dubai Marina while the canal was still a construction site. The group does three things at once: it develops and sells homes, it owns and operates hotels and golf resorts in the UK, Germany and Dubai, and it invests in property it does not build itself. The one Select Group project GRAF sells is Artistry One Residences at Dubai Design District. See "Who owns Select Group?" below for the legal entity and the scale figures.

Dubai Marina, and everything after it

Select Group is known for many buildings in Dubai — among the best known are the ones it put up in Dubai Marina, where the company's own timeline runs from Yacht Bay in October 2007 through The Point and Royal Oceanic in December 2009, The Torch and Botanica Tower in 2011, Bay Central in December 2012, West Avenue in September 2014, The Residences at Marina Gate I in July 2018, No.9 in January 2019, The Residences at Marina Gate II in July 2019 and Jumeirah Living Marina Gate in September 2020; Studio One stands in the same district. Outside the Marina it completed The Pacific on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah in February 2017, and it has since built in Business Bay, on Palm Jumeirah and at Dubai Maritime City.

Its current Dubai pipeline is Peninsula in Business Bay, where handovers have been running since 2025; Nautica One and Nautica Two at Dubai Maritime City, due in 2026; Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina, due in 2029; and Artistry One and Artistry Two at Dubai Design District, launched in January and February 2026 with handover stated for 2029 — see our off-plan buyer's guide for how a five-year handover horizon like this compares with other Dubai launches. Land at Palm Jebel Ali and further plots at d3 came through the strategic agreement with Dubai Holding described in the FAQ below, and neither has published unit counts yet.

Outside the UAE, Select Group has completed 15 Northside and 98 Baker Street in London, both in 2023, holds towers in Liverpool, Sheffield and Nottingham, and runs five golf resorts in the United Kingdom with more than 530 keys. Project-specific prices, payment plans and delivery dates come from the current official sales information for each development.

Who owns Select Group?

Select Group is owned by its founder and publishes no shareholder register. British-Pakistani entrepreneur Rahail Aslam established the company in Dubai in September 2002, and the company prints his title as Founder and Chairman; he stepped down as chief executive on 14 October 2024, when Israr Liaqat, who had joined as Chief Financial Officer in 2016, became Group CEO. On the figures the company published on 2 July 2026 it is one of the largest privately owned developers in the Gulf — more than 10,000 homes delivered and a portfolio of 24.7 million square feet with a gross development value of AED 35.2 billion. The group also holds assets that have nothing to do with selling apartments: five golf resorts in the United Kingdom with more than 530 keys, the Radisson Blu in Dubai Media City, bought through the subsidiary Select M City Ltd for more than AED 200 million in a deal announced in February 2025, and a hotel in Frankfurt. Its legal entity is Select Global Development LLC, a limited liability company incorporated in Dubai under commercial registration number 695299; no shareholding percentage appears in any source used here, and Emirates Strategic Investments Company LLC is named as a joint-venture partner on specific projects rather than as a shareholder in the group.

How Select Group differs from other Dubai developers

What separates Select Group from most developers on GRAF is operational, not financial: where it builds, what it does with sites other people walked away from, and who it signs before it opens sales. Its legal form and ownership are set out in the ownership answer above.

Twelve buildings in one square kilometre
The company's own timeline dates eleven Dubai Marina completions, from Yacht Bay in October 2007 to Jumeirah Living Marina Gate in September 2020, and Studio One was handed over in the same district. Peninsula, launched in November 2021, is its first master community anywhere.
Restarts towers other developers stopped
The Torch was transferred to Select Group by its original developer, Al Rashideen Trading Company. The Pentominium shell, abandoned around 2011 at roughly a fifth built, was bought at a Dubai Courts auction in December 2023 for about USD 100 million after 46 bids and relaunched as Six Senses Residences Dubai Marina.
The operator is signed before the flat is sold
Jumeirah Group runs Jumeirah Living Marina Gate and Jumeirah Living Business Bay; Six Senses, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, runs both Six Senses buildings; IHG has run the Bay Central hotel tower since it opened. Each operator was named at launch, not after handover.
Sells out before the building is finished
Peninsula's off-plan sales closed on 20 May 2025 at a gross development value of AED 7 billion; Nautica at Dubai Maritime City is marked sold out on the developer's own site; Six Senses Residences The Palm was fully sold before construction finished.
Buys land straight from Dubai Holding
The agreement signed on 1 July 2025 covering Palm Jebel Ali and Dubai Design District was Dubai Holding's first strategic land sale to a third-party developer at Palm Jebel Ali — most developers on GRAF assemble plots on the open market.
Why GRAF recommends Select Group

GRAF recommends Select Group because it has been handing over buildings in Dubai for nearly twenty years and you can walk into most of them — The Torch, Marina Gate, Peninsula — before you buy anything off-plan from it. The one Select Group project GRAF sells is Artistry One Residences at Dubai Design District, a 36-storey tower with one- to three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom duplex penthouses, from AED 2.2 million, with handover in 2029.

Why consider Artistry One
  1. You are buying off-plan from a developer with finished buildings behind itHandover is five years out, so the question is whether the developer finishes. Its most recent completion, Six Senses Residences The Palm, was handed over in May 2026, and Peninsula in Business Bay has been handing over since 2025 — both were launched off-plan the same way Artistry One is being sold now.
  2. Dubai Design District is only now getting homesd3 grew as a creative and office district; Artistry One is Select Group's first residential development there, and Artistry Two followed in February 2026. Ask GRAF what else is planned on the same master plan before you pick a floor.
  3. The entry price is below the Marina and Downtown for the same address qualityApartments start at AED 2.2 million, with Business Bay, Downtown Dubai and DIFC a short drive away. Ask GRAF for a rental and resale comparison against equivalent sizes in Business Bay before you decide.
